DirSet
Your shoot. Directed.
Plan around what you actually have. Bring your idea, gear, location, time, people, and constraints — DirSet turns them into an optimized shoot plan you can actually execute.
Most shoot planning assumes a production you don't have.
Generic templates and generic AI assistants imagine an ideal crew, ideal gear, and unlimited time. Real shoots aren't like that — one camera, a two-hour window, a location you can only use once, an actor who leaves at 4 PM. DirSet plans around the shoot you can actually run, not an imaginary one.
How it works
Four real inputs. One executable plan.
Your idea
Concept, treatment, script, or shot ideas — text or uploads.
Your gear
Cameras, lenses, support, lighting, and audio in your Equipment Locker.
Your location & people
Where you're shooting, who's involved, and when they're available.
Your constraints
Hard limits, available time, and budget — never quietly ignored.
A real plan, structured
Every shot is a record, not a paragraph.
Illustrative example of a single generated shot, shaped exactly like what the Shot Plan Editor produces and lets you edit.
Shot 4B — Scene 2, INT. APARTMENT — NIGHT
RequiredShe notices the letter on the counter and hesitates before picking it up.
- Camera

Why this order
Grouped with shots 2 and 7 — same location, lens, and lighting setup — so the gimbal and window light are set up once, not three times.
Resource check
Available: Sony A7 III, 50mm prime, gimbal — all in your Equipment Locker.
Features
What's actually in DirSet.
Equipment Locker
A reusable inventory of what you actually own. Category → Brand → Model selection attaches verified capabilities automatically — nothing invented for gear it doesn't recognize.
Guided, not generic, inputs
Presets for the details that matter — shot size, camera angle, lighting type, location conditions — with a free-text escape when nothing fits.
Equipment-aware planning
Recommendations prioritize gear you own. When the ideal tool is missing, DirSet suggests a realistic substitute from your own locker instead of assuming you'll rent one.
Story Order vs. Shoot Order
The order your content plays back is rarely the smartest order to capture it in. DirSet keeps both and explains why shots are grouped for efficient capture.
Coverage Check
Contextual, non-blocking warnings about likely editorial gaps — with a one-click Add to Shot Plan for anything worth shooting.
Resource & Time Checks
See what's available, missing, or worth substituting, and whether your plan actually fits your shoot window — with a compressed Must Get / Get If Possible / Optional fallback when it doesn't.
Shoot Mode
A mobile-first, one-shot-at-a-time view for set: Complete, Retake, Skip, and move on — no clutter, no reoptimization mid-shoot.
PDF export
Shot List, Shoot Schedule, Equipment List, and Production Checklist — printable, and always built from your current, edited plan.
Why DirSet is different
It optimizes execution, not an imaginary production.
Built around what you have
Not an imaginary ideal production. Recommendations start from your Equipment Locker and your real constraints, every time.
Structured, not a wall of text
Every shot is a real, editable record — camera, lens, movement, lighting, people, props — not AI prose you have to parse on set.
Your edits are never overwritten
Correct an assumption or rewrite a shot, and it stays corrected. Later checks work from your current plan, not the original AI draft.
Honest about uncertainty
Time and resource estimates are labeled as estimates. DirSet won't invent an exact technical fact you never gave it.

FAQ
Questions creators ask.
Do I need professional gear to use DirSet?
No. DirSet plans around whatever you actually own — down to a phone and one light — and suggests realistic substitutes instead of assuming ideal equipment.
Is the generated plan a guarantee?
No. Shot recommendations, coverage suggestions, and time estimates are planning aids. You review and edit the plan, and you make the final call on set.
Can I edit what DirSet generates?
Yes — every shot is fully editable: reorder, reassign gear, rewrite descriptions, add or duplicate shots. Your edits persist and are never silently overwritten.
What's the difference between Free and Creator?
Free includes one active project, a limited number of AI planning calls, and the basic Shot List PDF. Creator ($9.99/month) unlocks additional projects, the full Equipment Locker, complete AI planning across every check, and all four PDF exports.
Is DirSet only for beginners?
No — recommendation detail adapts to your stated experience level, from plain-language guidance for beginners to concise technical notation for professionals.
